Howdy Pawdners!!
This year’s CSTC National Specialty Show celebrates the West, old and new, and will be held in conjunction with one of Canada’s largest and premier dog events – the Alberta Kennel Club’s (AKC) Summer Classic. The AKC event runs from August 1-4, 2025, in Okotoks, Alberta (just south of Calgary, Alberta). In addition to the National, there will be an Alberta Regional Specialty, an All-Terrier Specialty, plus four all-breed shows!! That’s SEVEN chances to earn Championship points!! National and Regional Sweeps will also be held, featuring Puppy (6-18 months), Veteran (7+ yrs), and Breeder Sweeps! Who’ll be the rootinst, hootinist, tootinist Scotties in the west?!
The CSTC is also excited to announce there will be FIVE different performance events where Scotties can strut their giddy up – Agility, Rally, Obedience, Scent Detection, and Earthdog!! The Agility, Rally, Obedience, and Scent Detection will be available all four days of the AKC show, while the Earthdog test to find those wascally varmints will be held at the closest trial dens on Thursday, July 31st at Penhold, Alberta.
This is a fantastic opportunity to participate and/or spectate and cheer some amazing Scotties on as they show down the competition!! There are also classes for altered Scotties, a Parade of Honour, and a costume class for you and your Scottie! Dust off your boots or dress like your favorite country stars, but don’t forget your hat! Yee Haw!!!
After a wonderful day rounding up ribbons, there will be a delicious BBQ Sunday evening at the nearby Big Sky BBQ Pit, together with award presentations, silent auction, sales table, and the chance to meet and catch up with great friends and fellow Scottie lovers! Tickets are $45/person and can be ordered by contacting Betty Sudak at bettysudak@gmail.com. Payment for dinner tickets should be sent to kathy.mcara@shaw.ca.
As always, we rely on volunteers to organize and help make these events possible and fun for everyone. If you, your spouse, and/or family members would be willing to spare some time to help out (particularly Saturday and/or Sunday) at the show grounds and/or at the dinner (e.g. auction items, raffle tickets, sales table), it would be greatly appreciated!! If available, please contact Nancy McKenzie at njmckenzie@glenshielregd.com.
